Thank you very much for your follow-up, follow-through, and ALL your diligent help and customer care these past several months.
I received the new Vectronix PLRF-10 yesterday evening. I appreciate very much your excellent timing – in my work we are planning a tactical exercise and needed a way to gain multi-point, long range, distance measurements for quantifying the perimeter of the area “of interest” for the exercise. Geospatial analysis provided some value, but had limitations. I was just thinking that it would be excellent to have the PLRF handy for the measurement work – and amazingly, your shipping notice and e-mail arrived to indicate “PLRF-10 on the way!”
When the Vectronix PLRF-10 arrived at my location, I noticed your name signed among the persons inspecting the item. I appreciate very much your personal attention to testing and inspecting this PLRF-10, and all your efforts to coordinate with Vectronix to ensure that the same quality controls were implemented / executed at the manufacturer’s site before their shipping the PLRF-10 to APO.
This morning, I have given the PLRF-10 a thorough workout for my work / task described above. I am very impressed with the exceptional performance of this unit:
- The bright daylight performance is incredible … easily ranging a 1 foot diameter telecommunications mast at 1800 yards in direct sunlight.
- Interestingly, during the early pre-dawn hours, the unit was able to consistently range 3/4 inch diameter support cables for a radio tower at 400 yards. This is extremely precise detection.
- The narrow divergence of the laser output allows for the “threading” of measurements on objects hidden behind many layers of thick forest. I was able to range observation towers through very narrow lines of sight, that were literally threading the needle through thickets of tree cover, over 250 to 1300 yards distance.
- A notable capability of this unit is its ability to range through the glass on windows. Consistently and accurately ranging through plate glass windows out to 950 yards in very bright, direct sunlight conditions.
The PLRF-10 is fantastic for coupling with night vision. During pre-dawn, this morning, I used the PLRF-10 with helmet mounted PVS-14 night vision monocular. The way the PLRF-10 is designed, it naturally and quickly aligns with the night vision (on optical line of sight) even when hand held. This particular unit that you’ve sent to me has incredibly clear optics with an amazing amount of light transmission at its fixed 6x magnification — this delivered an incredibly bright and detailed image when viewed through Gen 3 night vision.
This PRLF-10 is a keeper, and exceeds all my expectations for what I need from a laser range finder. Thank you again, Michelle, for all your exceptional customer attention and care. I look forward to making more purchases for precision electro-optical equipment from APO in the near future.
